For those who would like to spend some time with God a few notes of mediation are given to this section. One of the most important things before mediation is placing ourselves in the presence of God.- this can more easily be done with the practice of silence before mediation.A few points on how to do this are given below and they may be used whenever we wish to take some time out for meditation.
HE THAT HAS NO GUARD ON HIS SPEECH SHALL MEET WITH EVILS, IN THE MULTITUDE OF WORDS THERE SHALL NOT WANT SIN.
1) practice of silence - focus of the mind. If we really want to converse with God we must remember that He wishes our attention. Entirely.
2) Certain time of day and hold on to it. A time that is comfortable for you - and a place.
3) Use that time to converse with God. You know how to hold a conversation with another person, well, God is another person.
4) Idle chattering can be useless. Distractions will follow. Cancel them.
5) Speech to be used in a moderate way by charity with others if disturbed.
6) Interior silence will follow - hem off interior senses - memory, imagination, thoughts, recollection of the past if we want direct contact with God, then we must guard our senses.
7) If any man thinks himself to religious, not bridling his tongue, this man's religion is vain. James 1:26. In order to listen to God we must forget the world and all in it - sort of make our own world with his love as our aim. When the soul is really separated from the world then we can really get to God. Something to strive for - utter relation to God.
