As Christ was ready to ascend to His Father in heaven He gave His close ones a directive and a final will and testament. If you remember, we talk about that in the Handbook at times as His Last Will and Testament. At that time and closing at Calvary, He gave Mary to us as our Mother, to care for us as the Council says, the Mother of the Church. Is it no wonder then that we who are in the Legion are required to promote the devotion to our Mother as a way of going out and preaching the Gospel to all nations. Our work in dealing with those in spiritual need is the directive given to us.
To participate in this divine directive is a wonderful way to obtain graces; not only for us but for those we serve. The work we do is sanctioned by her in so far as predestination is guaranteed to those who daily say her rosary and promote that devotion to others. What greater reward can we obtain than to be so blessed by the Mother of God? Yet, many people, good Catholics, do not realize that reward for the privilege of saying her Rosary and consequently do not or very seldom take time to say the beads.
In one of His parables he asks why certain people are still standing in the market place and not going into the vineyard. We might ask ourselves whether He meant us also if we are not promoting devotion to His Mother?
Idleness in this directive is intolerable We are talking about the Mother of God, the Queen and Mediatrix of graces which makes it a constant duty for us to treat her as such in our spiritual life; besides we must make it a duty to make sure our family members are close to Mary and have a great devotion to her as they might realize when we are with them; lastly our duty as Legion members commands us to spread our devotion to Mary throughout the world, asking us as members to think of the True Devotion of DeMontfort. Souls entrusted to our care, our cases, must realize our devotion to our Lady and we must be an example to them on their way to perfection.
All in all, our responsibility and obligation is a serious one. Who in the world, besides organizations devoted to the Blessed Mother will take the time and the stamina to promote her devotion throughout the world?
