As we go back in history a little, we might remember the invasions of Europe done by the allies during World War II. As memory reminds me, all the generals were called together and the plans for the invasion were made. All the information was passed down to those in the lower ranks so all would have the identical information for the invasion. If you can, try to see all the soldiers involved, sitting at the feet of the generals, getting instructions on how to invade and get rid of the pest
that had terrorized Europe. Certainly an army set in battle array. We, too, in the Legion of Mary have an instance, once a year, where we stand as an army set in battle array. It is called our ACIES - a wonderful time where we all stand in front of Mary, our Leader, and make a promise to her to do what we can to help her. After all, our Legion was formed after the Roman legion, a fighting unit that was a military unit - a unit that was always ready for battle. The only difference is that our enemy is not of flesh and blood normally, but of the powers of hell that plan for the destructio of people's souls for all
eternity.
We make a promise to our Commander and Leader. Our Blessed Lady,as any soldier in the field will make to his or her commander. We are not a social organization, but on organization that is there to fight to the end, and know that we, with Our Lady on our side, will win the battle.
Remember, we are an universal organization, so next month, the Legion of Mary, no matter whether it is in Illinois or Japan, will hold it ACIES, a public honoring of the Blessed Virgin whsere all of us, throughtout the world, will have the opportunity to stand in front of the Vexillum and say the words of honor and praise to her. If we are a true member of the Legion, we will take that time out of our lives to come and stand before our Leader. Ours here in the Curia will be the second Sunday of the month - others will have it at different times and would be good to check with your local Curia to find out where and when.
May you have a good talk with your Mother and reconsecrate your time and ability to her work.
